Sir Alex Ferguson has been linked with a £40m move for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres.

The Sunday Express describe it as an 'audacious raid' but that could well be underplaying the ramifications of a move that would shake football.
Rafa Benitez would of course resist any attempt to lure Torres away from Anfield, but a British record bid could persuade Liverpool's cash-strapped owners.
The newspaper offers no evidence or quotes so the story should be taken with a large pinch of salt, but the very mention of Torres moving to United will be enough to incense Liverpool fans.
United continue to be linked with much more sensible targets, like Lyon's Karim Benzema, Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o, Atletico Madrid's Sergio Aguero, Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery and Valencia's David Silva.
