Nemanja Vidic’s agent has rubbished reports of a possible move to Barcelona, telling setanta.com that Manchester United have informed the player he is an integral part of the side.
Vidic enjoyed a tremendous campaign last season as he was shortlisted for the PFA Player of the Year award and named both the Fans’ and Players’ Player of the Year at Manchester United following some commanding displays alongside Rio Ferdinand.
His campaign ended in disappointment when United were humbled by Barca in the Champions League final in Rome though and reports on Sunday claimed the Catalans are hoping to lure him to Camp Nou to play alongside a former United team-mate in Gerard Pique.
But, following talks with chief executive David Gill last week, the Serbia international’s representative is adamant that Vidic will not be leaving United despite extensive interest from rival clubs.
“Nemanja Vidic will stay in Manchester,” Paolo Fabbri told setanta.com. “I don’t think we will have any surprises in the short term. We are not planning to move.
“This week, on Monday and Tuesday, we were at Manchester United to speak with David Gill, for other reasons, but we also spoke about Vidic.
“Vidic is supposed to stay there. A move is not possible unless some Arab makes a crazy offer!
"But in a normal situation, Nemanja will stay there.
“Barcelona and many other teams can be interested in Vidic - that is another story. Three or four Italian teams would be pleased to have the player.
